Shinya Nishimura

Senior Financial Specialist, Energy Focal Point for Thailand and Myanmar, World Bank

Shinya Nishimura is Senior Financial Specialist and Energy Focal Point for Thailand and Myanmar at the World Bank. He has extensive experience in corporate and project financing. He began his career at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi and was posted as a Representative of their Istanbul office in 1998. He joined the World Bank after graduating from the Fletcher School with Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy in 2003. After working on water and energy projects in Turkey as consultant for the World Bank, he developed clean energy projects globally as Investment Officer at International Finance Corporation. He has since worked as Senior Energy Specialist of the World Bank, on energy sector reform, financial restructuring and project development in Central Europe, West Africa, and East Asia. He has been posted to Ghana, Singapore and have been based in Bangkok from July 2023.
